  • (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2012 - Great Midlands Fun Run organisers will use Postcode Anywhere for the second time this year to prevent fundraising packs getting lost in the post.

The Great Midlands Fun Run is currently celebrating its tenth anniversary. In 2011, the event raised £228,000 for over 240 charities after reducing the number of lost entry packs to "less than 1%."

Data accuracy is highly important to the "critical that we capture the correct address for each entrant."

Event Director Mr Tracey Spare said: "We offered the Postcode Anywhere facility for those registering online for the first time last year, which undoubtedly reduced the number of incorrect addresses submitted on application forms.

"As a direct result, the number of information packs misplaced or lost in the post, when sent to individual entrants three weeks prior to the event, was significantly reduced to less than 1%. Those few that were lost or misplaced appeared to be down to other factors.

"Last year, a record-breaking £228,000 was raised and distributed to 240 nominated charities, voluntary organisations and community interest groups. For the second consecutive year, a capacity 6,000 entrants registered for the event with 75% of entrants choosing to register online.

"We're delighted to be offering the facility again this year when we launch the 10th Anniversary Great Midlands Fun Run on Friday 3 February. There are an additional thousand places available now we have introduced a new timing mechanism, and with a strong indication that an even higher percentage of entrants will use online as their preferred choice of entering, it's even more critical that we capture the correct address for each entrant.

"This will be the largest-ever field assembled to participate in the 8.5 mile Fun Run through the streets of Sutton Coldfield and Sutton Park. With more entrants, we hope that 2012 can become the most successful event in the history of the Fun Run."

Postcode Anywhere's sales director Phil Rothwell said: "Putting processes online can be an incredibly cost-effective way to run parts of your operations, whether you operate in the public, private, or not-for-profit sector.

"However, a web page is only half the story if you need to deliver physical goods as well. Think of that smart-looking contact form as the tip of the iceberg - just under the surface are all the consequences of any errors in the contact data you collect. Every item lost in the post, redirected or returned to sender probably represents a lost customer, or in the case of the Great Midlands Fun Run, a lost fundraiser.

"Address auto-fill technology reliably solves the problem of contact data inaccuracies, and because it's up to 80% faster than manual address entry, encourages a higher volume of sign-ups too. For that reason, we're delighted to be able to offer Postcode Anywhere's services to the team at Great Midlands Fun Run, to help ensure as few fundraising packs go astray as possible."

From 3 February, prospective fundraisers can register online at www.greatmidlandsfunrun.com or in person from Saturday, 11 February at Our Place Community Hub [rear of Barclays Bank, Farthing Lane, Sutton Coldfield 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
