  • Macon, GA (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2012 - Do you want to become comfortable with your digital SLR camera so you can capture the beauty of the outdoors? Do you want to get off of the auto mode on your camera and gain creative control over the hundreds of settings a DSLR camera offers? A workshop titled Outdoor Photography for Beginning Digital SLR Photographers arrives at Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park in May 2012 that will help new digital SLR photographers demystify camera settings.

Georgia photographer, Jackie DeBusk, who was awarded and completed a 2012 Artist-in-Residence with South Carolina State Parks, will conduct the workshop twice on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park Group Shelter. The morning session is from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the afternoon session is from 1:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Join DeBusk and allow her to provide technical terms in easy-to-understand language. Within a few hours, participants will become capable of making sound exposure, metering, and focus area settings on their digital SLR cameras, as well as they will learn to apply creative composition principles. Attendees will discover how to set white balance and how to use a histogram, also.

The workshop includes 3 hours of instruction with a visual presentation, hands-on activities, and a booklet to keep. After the lessons, participants head out into the park to apply their newfound knowledge and skills. The park offers a chance to practice shooting flora, fauna, landscapes, and waterscapes.
The workshop is limited to 30 seats per session. Pre-registering and pre-paying are recommended. Register by calling instructor Jackie DeBusk at 912-580-5308 or register online at www.debuskphoto.com.

Workshop fees are paid to the instructor by check or money order as follows: $12 by mail by May 1, $14 by mail after May 1, or $15 at the door. If pre-paying, mail fee to: Jackie DeBusk, P.O. Box 5219, St. Marys, GA 31558. Note that the workshop fee does not include park's required $5 parking fee, which can be paid the day of the workshop at the park.

DeBusk's outdoor photos have been purchased and published on USAToday.com, TravelAdvice.com, and Trails.com. As a stock photographer of five years, DeBusk has adhered to stringent digital photography requirements for acceptance to sell photographs. Evolving from hobbyist herself to professional, DeBusk simplifies all the complicated information and makes outdoor photography fun. She also works as a freelance photojournalist.

Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park is one of southeast Georgia's favorite state parks and includes a lake, picnicking, boat rentals, docks for anglers, a golf course, a hiking trail, an observation deck, camping, and lodging.

The park's Brazell's Creek Golf Course offers a pro shop and junior/senior discounts. The course was expanded to18-holes a few years ago. Boasting five sets of tees, the Par 71 layout plays to just under 7,000 yards from the tips. The signature 15th hole is a 207-yard Par 3, which plays over scenic wetlands to a large island green. A 1,500-yard winding bridge connects the original holes with the back nine. This course tempts the photographer within the golfer to take a lovely shot of the scenery as much as making a good shot on the greens.

Calll the park at (912)557-7744 or visit gastateparks.org on the web to see the photography workshop event listing as well as find out more information about this beautiful park. Gordonia-Alatamaha State Park is located at 322 Park Lane, Hwy 280 West, Reidsville, GA 30453.
