  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - The Law Offices of Rhonda Hill Wilson, P.C. and its principal attorney Rhonda Hill Wilson, are participating in the Earle Mack School of Law at Drexel University Co-op Program providing a semester-long mentorship and internship experience to law student Mallory Pelland. Hill Wilson, a Philadelphia trial attorney who possesses a passion for educating young attorneys, focuses her practice on nursing home negligence, medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents and premises liability matters. Through the Co-op Program, Pelland supports the work of the firm's attorneys by providing research and writing assistance, including drafting petitions, motions and memoranda of law in pending litigation before the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and the Pennsylvania Superior Court. Pelland also has the opportunity to observe depositions and hone her presentation skills by presenting research findings to the firm's attorneys.

"Mentoring law students is truly rewarding," said Hill Wilson. "I am so pleased that Mallory chose to spend a semester with us to gain practical experience in plaintiff-side litigation, particularly as there are too few plaintiff women trial lawyers. Mallory is an excellent student and my hope is that she will choose to become an advocate for injured individuals and their families."

Drexel Law's Co-op Program provides a unique opportunity for law students to spend a semester devoting the majority of their academic focus to learning outside the classroom. Each co-op is chosen for the quality experience that it can provide to law students as part of their overall academic experience. Hill Wilson and her firm have been past participants in the program, hosting law students who were interested in personal injury litigation, health care law and related fields of practice.

An attorney for more than three decades, Hill Wilson founded her Center City Philadelphia law firm in 1994. She was previously a member of an insurance defense practice, which provides her clients with the distinct advantage of having an attorney who knows how the defense approaches cases. A frequent lecturer, Hill Wilson has also presented and taught in areas including nursing home litigation, deposition strategies, ethics, damages, direct- and cross-examination and other civil litigation essentials. She chairs the United Negro College Fund's Philadelphia-area "A Mind Is" Annual Giving Society, and in this role gives back to the community by teaching young, inner-city women life skills and goal setting strategies.

Hill Wilson is a past president of the National Bar Association's Women's Law Division-Philadelphia, has served on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and is a former member of the AAJ National College of Advocacy Board of Trustees. She currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, the AAJ Executive Committee and the Governing Board of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority. In 2008 and 2009, Hill Wilson received Distinguished Service Awards from the American Association for Justice. The first woman in her family to earn an advanced degree, Hill Wilson is a 1979 graduate of the Washington College of Law, The American University.
