  • (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2010 - Peter Loftin is a magnanimous and generous entrepreneur that built up his empire from the back room of a small office and now after building it up into a telecom giant has shifted gears to focus on the arts and his many charities. Below are some of the details of his wonderful donations to society and the arts.

Peter Loftin has always had a strong appreciation for the arts; so much so that at the time of his original contribution to the BTI Center for Performing Arts, it was the largest financial contribution ever given to the city of Raleigh! His contributions to the arts did not stop at the Performing Arts. He was also actively involved in the Arena Football Team he owned. He shared the board of the team with Jon Bon Jovi, John Ellway, the Van Dosses (owners of Amway), and Jerry Jones (owner of Dallas Cowboys). Peter Loftin also started and was the named sponsor of the BTI senior tennis events in Raleigh and Atlanta which featured tennis greats Jimmy Connors and John Mc Enroe.

Mr. Loftin is also involved with humanitarian efforts and served alongside Jon Huntsman on American Red Cross board. His company, BTI, was honored as the corporate citizen of the year by the NC disability association for providing free Internet service to all disabled citizens in NC. Peter was presented with the prestigious award during a ceremony when the Governor himself, Jim Hunt, bestowed him with the honor. Peter also contributed to charities focusing on veterans; giving one gift to ASCOM, which is the special ops and airborne museum at Fort Bragg. After 9/11 Peter worked closely with the Raleigh Fire Chief to give an incredible donation of $1 million dollars to the police commissioner of NYC.

One of Peter's most cherished charities are those that involve children. Peter volunteered at the Boys and Girls club in Atlanta and was honored for starting Loftin's 2 on 2 basketball competition throughout Atlanta. He has also given to the North Carolina Museum of Science and started Camp BTI, which is a Boys and Girls Club of America Camp for Kids. He also supports Oak Ranch Facility for Troubled Teens.

As a wealthy American, you have a choice to give or to just take. Peter Loftin is truly an American inspiration thanks to his incredible contributions to both business and society.
