Of Punjab has organized a half day physical awareness training programonECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code for Commercial Buildings) and ENS (Eco-Niwas Samhita for Residential Buildings) for all Stakeholders like Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, Improvement Trust, GLADA, Department of PWD, PSPCL, Department of Town & Country Planning, Architects, Engineers, Government Officials, Students and Energy Design Professionals from Ludhiana District on27thApril, 2022 at Improvement Trust Office, Ludhiana.

    The training program commenced with the floral welcome of the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest of the program was Ms. Niru Katyal, LCA, Improvement Trust andGuest of Honour was Sh. Rakesh Garg, Superintending Engineer, PWD Ludhiana other guests for the day Sh. Buta Ram, Improvement trust Ludhiana, Sh. Loveroop Singh, District Manager, PEDA, Sh. Money Khanna from PEDA were also present in the program and shared experience on implementation of ECBC & ENS in Buildings at the State level. Sh. Rakesh Garg gavebrief on BISA building case study which has been constructed ECBC Compliant at Ludhiana under his supervision.

    ECBC has been notified by the Punjab Government and made mandatory for use of ECBC in commercial buildings. The purpose of ECBC is to provide minimum requirements for the energy efficient design and construction of buildings. This code is applicable for commercial buildings and building complexes with a connected load of 100kW or contract demand of 120 kVA and above. The commercial buildings compliant with ECBC would result energy savings of 30-50% as compared to the conventional commercial buildings. Without Compliance of ECBC, the building plans shall not be sanctioned in the State through Department of Local Government and Department of Housing & Urban Development.

    The master trainer of the program was Ms. Chitrarekha KabreBEE Certified ECBC Master Trainer. She talked about the fundamentals of Energy Conservation in Buildings and described on incorporation of ECBC &ENS in upcoming commercial buildings in the State.
