  • Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) February 15, 2011 - Parts Galore, a self-serve used auto parts retailer, broke ground for its third facility in metro Detroit on Friday, January 28, 2011 in Monroe County, Michigan. The store is scheduled to open in June of 2011 and will be located at 14533 Telegraph Rd., just north of the Flat Rock Speedway in Ash and Berlin Townships. Parts Galore President, Bill Wild, made the announcement.

"With the addition of this facility, our customers will have three locations totaling 70 acres and a selection of over 7500 cars and trucks in our inventory," said Bill Wild. "Parts Galore is an ideal fit for 'do-it-yourself' auto mechanics. 'You pull 'em and save big bucks' has always been our motto. Our state of the art facilities are completely handicap accessible and user friendly," Wild continued.

The 25-acre site is strategically located on Telegraph Rd. between Toledo, Ohio and Detroit, within minutes of I-75 and I-275. The $5-million investment is expected to provide the area with 30 new jobs.

The Parts Galore concept is a simple one; customers bring their own tools and remove the parts from a selection of 2500 vehicles. They proceed to the check out area where they pay for their part; much like checking out at any commercial retail outlet. The vehicle "shelf life" at Parts Galore is approximately 45-60 days ensuring 1000 new vehicles available to customers every month at each facility. The vehicles are elevated on stands to allow easy access to parts. Vehicles are arranged according to type and manufacturer to maximize customer efficiency. Parts Galore is an environmentally friendly company that places every vehicle through a stringent 17-step process to remove potential environmental concerns prior to placement into the retail area. That attention ensures a safe environment for customers and maintains the Parts Galore commitment to being good stewards of the land.

Since Monroe County has a large agricultural industry, the new Parts Galore facility will include a unique "big truck" section. This section will feature commercial trucks 1-ton and larger including stake trucks, dump trucks, cube vans, RV's and semi tractors.

The self-serve used auto parts business is a growing trend in the used auto parts industry. "Parts Galore is a great concept that will be well received by the community as it serves a real need for our citizens," said James Vaslo, Ash Township Manager. "Given the state of the economy, more and more people are looking for ways to save, and fixing your own vehicle is one simple solution," continued Vaslo.

Parts Galore was established in 2005 when it opened its first location at 11360 E. Eight Mile Rd. on Detroit's East side. In 2007, the second store opened at 5970 W. Warren Ave. in Southwest Detroit. Parts Galore facilities are open to the public seven days a week and most holidays.
