  • (1888PressRelease) August 31, 2010 - The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Alok Ray, the former professor of IIM- Calcutta and an eminent economists whose works and researches are appreciated in the world of Business Economics and Developmental Economic in the nation. The discussion was also contributed by Dr. Anup Kumar Sinha, Professor, IIM- Calcutta, Dr. Abhirup Sarkar, Professor, ISI- Calcutta and Dr. Sugata Marjit, Director, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata in different perspectives to nourish the topic for excellence.

    The discussion revolved around the ways by which inclusive growth can be attained in India where there is an inequality of wealth distribution and the line of poverty is increasing to a greater extent leading to a very slow growth in compare to China and other developing nations. In the discussion, Dr. Anup Kumar Sinha, depicted the strategies by which the inequality of wealth can be reduced thus creating more opportunities in employment as well as industry, trade and commerce. One of the important and imperative strategy which he mentioned was developing the infrastructural facilties of the nation where every one can get networked and can access the leading communication and profitable opportunites especially for the poor people which can definitly increase the GDP in the near future.

    Dr. Abhirup Sarkar, also depicted a theoritical and scientific way by which resources in India can be utilized in an optimum way to curb the uneven distribution of wealth in the nation. He gave relevant examples in the world of economics where the proven truth is very much applicable for our nation. The panel discussion was also enlightened by Dr. Sugata Marjit, who said that the government should really utilize the market forces governing the demand and supply and should make reasonable profit out of it to curb the fiscal deficit rather than criticizing the rule and game of the market in an irrational way.

    The event was attended by more than 200 professionals including the students and faculty members of Institute of Engineering and Management, IISWBM Kolkata, Jadavpur University, BESU and many more.
