  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) February 24, 2012 - For the last two years, high school students from Pacific Ridge School's a cappella group have earned a gold rating at the Heritage Music Festivals, first in Anaheim, then in San Francisco. As a result, the group has been selected to perform in the National Youth Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall, a prestigious honor for the Carlsbad nonprofit, independent school. The students will be conducted by Eph Ehly, a professional choral conductor, and they will perform with approximately 200 other students from around the country.

The invitation-only festival is open to schools that receive gold ratings at the Heritage Music Festival for at least two consecutive years. At the Festivals, students' musical performances are judged by professional choral conductors based on a national set of performance standards and criteria, including intonation, tone, blend, balance, diction, general effect, choice of music, and interpretation. Plaques are awarded indicating each school's rating on one of five levels. For two consecutive years, Pacific Ridge School has earned a gold rating, the highest level possible.

Heritage Festivals specialize in life-changing music festivals where, through spirited competition, internationally-renowned adjudication, and top-notch venues, music transcends the ordinary to become art. Heritage Festivals have evolved over the last 30 years into the country's most prestigious high school music festivals.
