  • (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2013 - On November, 16-18 thousands of citizens in Sihanoukville, Svay Rieng, Battambang, Seam Reap and Phnom Penh were invited to participate in a wide range of amusement events including competitions, games and lucky draws. The participants received memorable prizes from Cambodia's first nationwide digital TV operator.

The three-day Water Festival (in Khmer "Bonn Om Toeuk") taking place every year, competes with the Khmer New Year for being the most important and popular holiday among Cambodians. This year the Festival also coincided with the full moon of the Buddhist calendar month of Kadeuk (November). Cambodians believe that the full moon is a good sign which promises a rich bountiful harvest.

GS Group as the investor of One TV project eagerly supported this uplifting nationwide event. Thus, One TV Team became one of the organizers of festive celebrations within the annual Water Festival. They prepared the Interactive show to enjoy celebration with the masses and make additional surprises for Cambodians. "We brought a lot of fun to citizens. It was exciting to see Cambodians laughing while playing games or participating in jokes and fun competitions. All participants got special prizes from One TV. We are really happy to rejoice with the people during these truly special days", - Anna Melnikova, GS Group leading strategy marketing executive shared her impressions.

The Water Festival almost coincided with the celebrations of the operator's first year in Cambodian market. To recall, One TV was launched by GS Group, international multi-industry holding originating from Russia, together with a large Cambodian corporation Royal Group of Companies in September 2012. By the end of December, 2012 nine provinces of the country, i.e. 70% of Cambodia's territory, were covered by the operator's signal. "At present there are no pay TV operators in the country that would broadcast nationwide. Wide coverage zone is one of One TV main competitive strong points, however not the only one. Responding to the preferences of Cambodian population, we are working on enriching our content. And now we have widened our offer to as many as 80 channels, including popular international, Asian and unique local Khmer content", - Ms. Melnikova commented.

Earlier this fall One TV enlarged its content base offering over 10 new channels. Now the quantity of channels available in the operator's packages has reached 80. New One TV content offer includes Animal Planet, AFC food channel highly popular in Asia and other popular channels.
