  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) September 23, 2018 - In the 13th year of “Autumn at the Arboretum” over 90,000 pumpkins, squash and gourds will share the spotlight at the Pumpkin Village in Pecan Grove with scenes from the book Peter and Wendy and “The Adventures in Neverland” this fall at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. Mecca Design & Production, a custom exhibit fabrication company based in Dallas, was commissioned by the Dallas Arboretum to develop Captain Hook’s Jolly Roger pirate ship, complete with two `16-foot tall masts with crow’s nests to look out over the seas of pumpkins. To complete the scene, Mecca crafted CNC-cut balusters, railings to encircle the ship, hand-made rope ladders, cannons, and of course “the gangplank.” Famous for bringing storybooks to life at other times of the year in their colorful gardens, the Dallas Arboretum continues the tradition by delving into Peter and Wendy, traveling from London with the Darling family to Neverland and everywhere in between. Autumn at the Arboretum at the Dallas Arboretum, and presented by Rogers-O-Brien Construction, runs September 22 through November 21, 2018. Architectural Digest has named the Dallas Arboretum’s Autumn at the Arboretum “One of the World’s 15 Most Breathtaking Gardens.”

According to Mecca Design’s Kenneth Mecca, “It’s always a pleasure to create dramatic scenes for The Dallas Arboretum and help visitors slip inside a storybook and live out a fantasy.”
