  • (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2011 - This month, Corcoran Gallery of Art launched a mobile technology program using OnCell's state-of-the-art tour-building platform for its newest exhibition, 30 Americans, a wide-ranging survey of works by many of the most important African American contemporary artists of the last three decades, which runs October 1, 2011-February 12, 2012.

Corcoran Gallery of Art staff used OnCell's technology platform to record audio clips of the artists' personal commentary for a variety of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and videos for visitors to access with their mobile phones. Corcoran visitors can take this self-guided cell phone audio tour of the Gallery by dialing a number and following prompts to hear the artists describe their work.

By bringing seminal artistic figures together with younger and emerging artists, the exhibition explores artistic influence across generations and sheds light on issues of racial, sexual and historical identity. Often provocative and challenging, 30 Americans at the Corcoran explores ideas central to the American experience.

The cell phone audio tour launched October 1st and is available during museum hours, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; closed Monday and Tuesday; and will run until February 12, 2012.
