  • (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2011 - West Malling, England - Korecentric Ltd is pleased to announce that its Material Advantage software system has been selected by OGN Group to manage procurement for the UK Forties Alpha Satellite Platform (FASP) project.

OGN Group offers design, engineering and construction services to the oil & gas and renewable energy markets, centred around their Tyneside facilities, and has been selected by Apache Corporation to construct a new oil production platform for the UK Forties field. The deal, worth in excess of £150 Million, has given the economy of the North East a massive boost and will generate over 1000 jobs in the region over the next 2 years. Key to the project is the procurement and management of materials throughout the project lifecycle.

Following a series of meetings with OGN's Procurement, Engineering, Compliance and Construction teams, covering the scope of requirements and full product demonstrations, Korecentric has successfully demonstrated its ability to fully understand the needs of the project. During this process Korecentric has proven the suitability of its Material Advantage software to ensure that Engineering, Procurement and Construction can share and distribute project information, assisting the project to work within timescales and budgets. A key part of OGN's decision was Material Advantages ability to import Engineering data and flow this through the system, adhering to industry workflows.

Significantly, Material Advantage's usage will also extend further to manage procurement for future projects taken on by OGN.

Craig Melville, Chief Commercial Officer for OGN Group, said "The team at Korecentric have fully grasped the requirements here at OGN and been successful in demonstrating that to all of our key team members. By implementing Material Advantage we are ensuring that the procurement and materials management functions of the business can fully support the challenging demands associated with the large scale nature of the Apache project."

Zack Hodge, Managing Director of Korecentric commented "We are delighted that OGN Group has selected Material Advantage to manage its material & fabrication functions for the Forties Alpha project and to be associated with such a high profile project which is giving the economy of the North East region such a lift. The functionality and flexibility of Material Advantage will greatly assist OGN in delivering not just this project, but future projects, in the timeliest and most cost efficient manner possible".
