  • (1888PressRelease) October 09, 2012 - With over 68 countries represented and 198 projects competing, this the Third Edition Of Oaxaca FilmFest boast one of the largest and diverse selection of Films of any festival in Latin America.

    This year's event will be held from November 8th thru the 17th in and throughout the state of Oaxaca utilizing over 25 venues.

    Projects include the works of Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Spike Lee, Juliet Lewis, and Clive Owen.

    Every Feature Film in competition at Oaxaca FilmFest 2012 will be a Mexican Premiere. All Shorts will be Latin American Premieres. The Festival has also "raised the bar" with the strictest subtitling policy on the International FilmFestival circuit. Every film will be screened in the film's original language. English language films are required to have Spanish Subtitles. Spanish language films are required to have English Subtitles. All other films will be dual subtitled. This policy ensures audiences members from around the globe can enjoy every film.

    This commitment to quality is apparent in the films being screened. This year the Festival will be screening projects which had great success in Cannes, New York, Sundance, TriBeCa, and Toronto.

    In addition, the fastest emerging Film Festival on the planet, Oaxaca FilmFest, has an incredible Script Competition with 42 Finalist and has devoted an entire week to Self Distribution Education for Filmmakers all over the world.

    The highlight of the festivities will be a 10 Day "off road" film Rally of the region. This event will be a competitive event between 5 major Mexican Film Schools with the winning subject matter becoming the official promotional video for the State of Oaxaca.

    The growth of the Festival has attracted some extremely high profile partners including Cinemex, CTT, Final Draft, and Panasonic.

    This year the festival had nearly 1200 submissions from 90 countries and expects its audience to double to nearly 30,000 making Oaxaca FilmFest the second largest event in the region. In 2010 and 2011 the Festival generated $6,000,000 USD In revenue for the State of Oaxaca.
