  • (1888PressRelease) October 06, 2016 - Curbza, a peer-to-peer commerce mobile app, has officially launched university and college networks for every post-secondary institute across Canada. Students are able to buy, sell and trade within their school's network on the app.

Curbza, a peer-to-peer commerce mobile app based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has announced its cross-Canada launch of university and college networks. Students will be able to search their Canadian university or college to find their own campus network.

The latest version of the app provides users with the ability to create and manage customizable networks. Users have the ability to make networks public or private to control who can view items. A network for each university and college in Nova Scotia has been created by Curbza to enable students to buy and sell from each other and other vendors in a secure and convenient environment.

"After seeing success with our Nova Scotia launch, we created networks for every school in Canada to empower people to buy and sell stuff in a peer-to-peer setting," says Scott Theriault, CEO. "Every school in Canada is now a part of our movement to declutter and monetize the world's stuff."

Curbza's decision to create university networks was inspired by Nova Scotia's large influx of students that come from out-of-province every year. "We knew that people were moving in and out of Nova Scotia every year, and that left a lot of stuff floating around or on the curb," says Elizabeth O'Hanley, marketing director. "This isn't just the case for Nova Scotia. Students move from coast-to-coast and everywhere in between, and it's always necessary to find the stuff they need for a lower price or make money off of the stuff they can't move home with them when they graduate."

Curbza's cross-Canada launch follows a successful launch in Nova Scotia, where the company found a secure and local marketplace option was needed. Curbza chairman and co-founder Saeed El-Darahali is excited for the future of the company. "A peer-to-peer marketplace that serves a local population while giving them customizable networks is different than the average buy and sell app," says El-Darahali. "We give people the opportunity to create their own networks, sell in private or public networks and to sell one item across multiple networks. We're the first app to do this." El-Darahali also believes students are the perfect population to introduce the app to. "Students are up on new technology. They're willing to adopt new and more innovative ways to do every day tasks, and they're willing to give us feedback that will help us make the app the most user-friendly experience. They're smart and critical."
