  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) January 25, 2012 - Kristin Buie, communications manager of North Carolina Theatre (http://www.nctheatre.com), has announced that the organization, in conjunction with Broadway Series South, will present performances of Green Day's American Idiot from Tuesday, Jan. 31 through Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts, located at 2 E. South St. Performances will start at 7:30 p.m., with additional matinee performances on Saturday, Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. This national touring production, based on musical group Green Day's ground-breaking rock opera of the same name, tells the story of three lifelong friends forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia, and features the smash hits "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Holiday" and "21 Guns."

    Prior to the opening night production, six Triangle-area food trucks will participate in a food truck rodeo from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Lichtin Plaza directly in front of the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Local food trucks include: Baguett About It, ChickNQue, Klausie's, KoKYu, LoYo on the Go and Only Burger.
