  • (1888PressRelease) June 03, 2011 - In response to developments, the NOGTech 2011, 2-day technical conference to run in Lagos, 7-8 June will focus on the repositioning of Nigeria's oil and gas technology, utilisation and commercialisation, with a special round table session on the role Universities will play in shaping oil and gas industry.

    For the first time Honorable Sam Ode, Minister of State, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Engr Ernest Nwapa, Ag Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Engr Abbas H Imam, Deputy Director - Department of Academic Standards from National Universities Commission will come together in a pioneering round table discussion with seven other leading oil and gas professionals to discuss building human capital. The debate will look in depth at the role Universities play in providing the next generation of engineers to the industry, the training that will be needed, investment required into the sector and how this will be made possible in light of the new local content bill. This break through session will stands to create vast interest amongst the oil and gas and universities sectors in coming together in collaboration and identifying the fundamental tasks that need addressing in the sector.

    The National University Commission recently gave their endorsement to NOGTech which will allow the students under the arm of their universities to be given an insight, meet and be taught the vast operations of Nigeria's main industry by its leading professionals, and also present white papers in the Open Theatre in the exhibition hall.
    NOGTech 2011 will be also looking in-depth and exploring the vast possibilities and capabilities of the market and what technology can be introduced to help utilise Nigeria's vast gas reserves. NOGTech is to expected to become the biggest platform to appraise current industry practices, provide an insight into the next steps in technology advancements and network with high level officials.
