  • Bergen-Passaic, NJ (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2014 - Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) relocated its headquarters to The Berger Organization's Military Park Building this summer, leasing 10,000 square feet and bringing four additional local non-profit groups to its space on the building's 18th and 19th floors. The organization's commitment represents the latest in a series of new leases and renewals at the 250,000-square-foot, 89-year-old property in recent months.

NRBP, the Newark region's leading business organization, offers a range of services to strengthen the region's commercial infrastructure and revitalize New Jersey's largest city. It offers networking and brokered introductions; education, training, and information services; advocacy for business and economic development-friendly public policies and projects; and one-on-one member support and a full spectrum of activity to promote economic growth. NRBP's diverse membership includes nearly 450 corporations, professional firms, small businesses, educational institutions and not-for-profit organizations.

"There is no better place to connect with our members and Newark's stakeholders than our new offices at the Military Park Building," noted Chip Hallock, NRBP president and CEO. "We have combined our accessible, central downtown location in one of Newark's historic office buildings with modern conveniences and communications infrastructure. It is a venue that truly works for our organization." Jones Lang LaSalle represented NRBP in negotiating its long-term lease.

The non-profit organizations sharing NRBP's space include:

Greater Newark Enterprises Corporation, which provides loans and technical assistance to small business,
The Nicholson Foundation, which works to address the complex needs of vulnerable populations in New Jersey's urban areas, Newark Alliance, which works to improve economic conditions and public education in the city, and
ReServe, which matches professionals age 55+ with organizations that need their expertise.

"We look forward to a long and beneficial relationship with NRBP and the groups sharing its space," noted Miles Berger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Berger Organization. "These organizations all are making commendable contributions to Newark, and we are pleased to provide them with flexible, convenient accommodations that can foster their continued progress in the heart of the city they are serving."

The NRBP lease comes on the heels of several tenant lease renewals and expansions at the Military Park Building. Among them, Pillar College (formerly Somerset Christian Academy) expanded its operation to 15,400 square feet. The private evangelical Christian college, owned and operated by Pillar of Fire International, initially leased 6,000 square feet there in 2011. Additionally, TEAM Charter Schools expanded its space to 11,300 square feet; The Berger Organization currently is fitting out the addition. The education organization, which is affiliated with the national KIPP network, initially leased 8,000 square feet in 2010.

Tenants at the 21-story office tower enjoy on-site parking, a fitness center, conference facilities, and on-site ownership and management. The Military Park Building offers commanding views of the surrounding city, New York skyline and Military Park, where a multi-million-dollar redevelopment recently was completed. The property is proximate to Newark Liberty International Airport and major thoroughfares. It is within walking distance to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and Penn Station, which provides 20-minute NJ Transit and PATH service to midtown and downtown Manhattan.
