  • (1888PressRelease) July 11, 2010 - An Egyptian national Afrah graduated in accounting and business management from Cairo University and took her first steps in to the spa sector with a post as health club co-ordinator at the InterContinental hotel in Sharm-El-Sheikh, following which she joined the new Grand Rotana at the Red Sea resort as therapist.

    It was at another Sharm-El-Sheikh hotel that Afrah perfected her therapist and managerial skills, moving to the Seven Pillars Spa at the Sheraton Sharm in 2006 where she became head therapist and then acting spa manager, undertaking a number of training courses to widen her experience of spa therapies.

    Multi-lingual in Arabic and English, as well as French and Italian, Afrah also has qualifications to both train and perform professionally therapies ranging from Swedish, sports, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, hot stone and Thai massage to Ayurvedic healing, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, reiki and shiatsu rituals, facials, waxing, pedicure and manicure, plus weight control and aerobics.

    Moving to the Arabian Gulf in 2009, she joined VLCC in July as part of the pre-opening team for Al Ain VLCC centre. She then went for training to India through VLCC Co. In October, 2009, Afrah took over as manager of VLCC's new Mirdiff Centre in Dubai where she was responsible for implementing and overseeing wellness and beauty promotions, training, operations and customer relations.

    At the Grand Millennium Dubai, Afrah has responsibility for managing both the Jasmine Spa with its nine treatment rooms and comprehensive range of treatments, and the other hotel recreation facilities including the pool deck, fitness facility and Jacuzzi and sauna, plus promoting retail products as part of the spa operation. She said, "First and foremost, my plan is to focus on client care. We must explore our guest's needs in order to meet and exceed his/her expectations.
