New Jersey, New Jerusalem: Scarlet Beast Rebuilds the Grounds of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as the Kingdom of Heaven
Two 3D films rebuild the real grounds of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as the city of Revelation 21: walled in jasper, paved in gold, and surrounded by a burning land ruled by the scarlet beast.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2026 - Scarlet Beast, a New Jersey nonprofit conscious-technology organization, today released New Jersey, New Jerusalem, a pair of 3D films that rebuild the grounds of Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as the Kingdom of Heaven described in the Book of Revelation. The films premiere on heav3n.org and on the Scarlet Beast homepage, and are available on YouTube. The premise starts with the name. Say “New Jersey” slowly and it sounds like “New Jerusalem” - the holy city that John sees “coming down from God out of heaven” (Revelation 21:2). The films place that city on real ground in Trenton: the campus of the state hospital that opened in 1848 after Dorothea Dix’s campaign for humane care of people with mental illness.
Real roads, reimagined
Every road, path and building footprint in the films comes from public OpenStreetMap data for the hospital grounds, so the layout matches the real campus. Only the exteriors appear, reimagined. The films contain no interiors, no people and no patient information. The imagery follows Revelation 21 and 22. The roads become streets of “pure gold, as it were transparent glass.” A wall of jasper rings the grounds on twelve foundations of precious stones, and visitors enter through a gate made of a single pearl. The 1848 main building is rendered in white marble under a golden dome. On the front lawn stands the tree of life, whose leaves, in the text, are “for the healing of the nations.”
Heaven, walled inside hell
Outside the wall, the rest of the surrounding map burns: its roads run as rivers of lava, its buildings stand as charred ruins, and over it towers the scarlet beast of Revelation 17 — seven heads, ten horns, a crown on every horn. The one-minute-fifty-second walkthrough begins out there, beneath the beast, crosses an obsidian causeway, and enters the city through the pearl gate, following the real Stratton Circle past the tree of life to the dome. The forty-eight-second aerial circles the whole scene from behind the beast’s heads: a green and golden city, walled in, inside a burning land.
Why Trenton
Trenton Psychiatric Hospital has appeared in Scarlet Beast’s work before. The organization’s film Hurt Has a Sound grew out of a poem that, the last time the team checked, still hangs on the hospital’s walls. New Jersey, New Jerusalem returns to the same ground and pictures it the way Revelation pictures the city: whole, lit, and open, with gates that “shall not be shut at all by day” (21:25).
How it was made
The scene was built and rendered in Blender 4.5 with the EEVEE engine on Scarlet Beast’s own GPU server, then animated along the real road network and scored with the anthem God Is a Pure Psychopath with a True Heart (words and music: Christian Scarlet).
