  • (1888PressRelease) March 12, 2011 - Alberta, Canada - Sinclair and her siblings were raised by their single mother, who in addition to caring for her children, cared for their widowed grandmother. Together, the single women eked out a living by washing clothes to raise the three children. In "Dreams of the Washerwomen" Sinclair recognizes the struggles of single parent families. She says, "According to statistics, children of single parent families are at an increased risk for developing behavioral, academic and social problems, but those statistics don't have to be prophetic." Of the album Sinclair says, "Not all the dreams of the washerwomen were sweet.

Many of their dreams were sad or disappointing, but through it all they worked consciously to set an example of courage and determination for us. The album opens with the soulful "Washerwoman's Lament", a song that portrays a day in the life of the washerwomen, and is a fitting opening to a moving tribute. In "Sunday Best"

Sinclair reveals why Sundays came to take on such great significance in her childhood, while "Morning Laughter" is a refreshing take on the power of laughter to invoke change. It is "Another Single Day", however that best characterizes Sinclair's compassion as a single-parent child. In this her third work, "Dreams of the Washerwomen" touches on a wide array of emotions...joyful, fearful and down-right angry. True to her tradition, Sinclair's writing draws back the curtain to play out stories of inspection and reflection. "Dreams of the Washerwomen" is produced by Canadian producer Stew Kirkwood. In this affecting work, Kirkwood conveys the measure of Sinclair's artistic vision to produce a cohesive and well-rounded CD. "Dreams of the Washerwomen" is planned for release on February 11, 2011.
