  • (1888PressRelease) February 17, 2011 - Aura House School of Color Therapy has announced the launch of National Color Therapy Month, a new national holiday to debut in March 2011, created to celebrate and promote the healing power of color.

"Color therapy is a complementary therapy which is usually sought when other standard or alternative treatments have had little or no effect," says color therapist Eleyne Austen Sharp, director of Aura House School of Color Therapy. "It is an ancient energy healing method that has been used for thousands of years."

From chromotherapy baths and colored tuning forks to colored lightbulbs and dual color therapy systems like Aura-Soma and Colour Mirrors, color therapy is a powerful tool and readily available, says Sharp. "Today color is introduced by using crystals and visualization, wearing a particular color clothing to absorb color physically, applying colored lights or oils to the skin, eating colored foods and drinking colored water, she says. "One can also receive different color vibrations through music and writing."

According to Sharp, March was selected for National Color Therapy Month because the month typically conjures thoughts of colorful rainbows and the color green, which represents prosperity, good health, renewal and growth. "There are so many ways to experience the benefits of green," she says. "We can breathe green, wear green, eat green, drink green, carry a lucky green stone…even color our hair green!"

Retailers, hair stylists, healing professionals, artists and teachers are encouraged to participate in National Color Therapy Month by:

    - hosting color-related lectures and workshops
    - hosting art and photography contests
    - organizing painting renovation projects
    - offering colorful food and beverages
    - promoting colorful candles, jewelry, clothing, eyewear and other products
