  • Newark, NJ (1888PressRelease) October 25, 2011 - Following the success of its July Food Drive and Volunteer Day, the Community Action Committee of the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP, the commercial real estate development association, is conducting a "Tools 4 Schools" drive to benefit the "Kids Division" of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

The Kids Division has a simple goal: to improve the lives of children and break the cycle of poverty. With classroom supplies, new clothing, and nutritious, kid-friendly meals, children are given opportunities they might not otherwise receive. Turning a life around can begin with offering some of the most basic things many of us might take for granted. Part of the Community Food Bank of NJ in Hillside, "Tools 4 Schools" runs a free store for teachers in low-income districts. "Kids Closet" provides brand-new clothing to children in need throughout New Jersey.

After the "back to school" rush, a new infusion of donations is needed, so NAIOP NJ will collect items (as well as cash donations) at the November 7 President's Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner at the Short Hills Hilton.

According to the association's Community Action Committee Chair Janet Proscia of Cronheim Mortgage Corp., "We are encouraging our members to donate the most-needed items, such as colored pencils, rulers and glue sticks, but also to check their office supply rooms for new items, they no longer need. Even items with company logos, such as pens, pencils and rulers, are acceptable." All those attending the President's Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner on November 7 are being asked to bring school supply items or cash donations to support the project.

Details of the project can be found at www.naiopnj.org/CAP2011. Those who cannot attend the dinner may download a contribution form to make a cash donation, or contact Barbara Morford (732-729-9900/ morford ( @ ) naiopnj dot org) to make arrangements to drop off school supplies at an alternative location dot

The 7th Annual President's Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner will be held Monday, November 7, at the Short Hills Hilton (registration and cocktails begin at 4:30 PM). The Legacy Award will be presented to Peter Cocoziello of Advance Realty Group. Gretchen Wilcox, of G.S. Wilcox & Co., will receive the Pillar Award. The Advocacy Award will be presented to Michael Rothpletz of Drinker Biddle. Andrew Houston of Cassidy Turley will be honored with the Rising Star Award.
