NAIOP New Jersey Honors Eight Members at 2013 President's Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner

Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ (1888PressRelease) November 09, 2013 - Leadership was center stage at NAIOP New Jersey's 2013 President's Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner, as eight of the commercial real estate development association's members were honored for their exemplary service to the New Jersey Chapter in the areas of advocacy, leadership and volunteerism. The 9th Annual event, which included awarding of the Frank Visceglia Memorial Scholarship, was held at the Short Hills Hilton Hotel.

"These awards honor members for their service to the association, their contributions of time, expertise and financial support," said Michael G. McGuinness, CEO of NAIOP New Jersey. "The fact that this event has once again sold out is a testament to those being honored tonight."

"Welcome to this important event," said Chapter Vice President Clark Machemer of The Rockefeller Group, providing the introduction to the nearly 300 attendees. Noting that the majority of the evening's honorees and sponsors are associate members - the service providers - he said, "I know we developers don't say it often enough, but thank you!"

The awards were presented by current chapter president Michael Seeve of Mountain Development Corp. "Much has happened in the year since the last President's Awards Dinner," he said, noting everything from the industry's response in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, to the chapter's public policy accomplishments, the increasing number of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) earned at chapter events, and strong membership growth.

"I am honored to present these awards," he said.

The Pillar Award, which honors members who set an example of involvement for others, was presented to Meryl Gonchar of Greenbaum Rowe Smith & Davis. She was cited for her many roles since joining NAIOP New Jersey in 2007, including serving as co-chair of the Education Committee, and on the Gala Committee, Emerging Leaders Task Force, Transportation Funding Task Force and more.

George Jacobs of Jacobs Enterprises Inc. was presented with the Advocacy Award, which honors outstanding work in public policy. He was cited for his role on the chapter's Regulatory Affairs and Legislative committees, and for bringing "invaluable development experience and expertise to both groups."

"Wearing many hats" defines Mark Hurwitz of DigitalXPress, named Volunteer of the Year. Cited as the chapter's "most active volunteer of 2013," Hurwitz was honored for his work as co-chair of both the Golf and Membership committees, and as a volunteer of the annual Gala and the 2013 community action program.

The Rising Star Award, honoring developing leaders age 35 and under, was garnered by Dani El-Haj of Two River Community Bank. He was cited for his leadership skills since joining NAIOP New Jersey in 2011, including his efforts with the Developing Leaders program and as co-chair of the Community Action Committee.

The Legacy Award, honoring contributions to NAIOP New Jersey that will have a lasting impact, was presented to Rosalin Petrucci of J.G. Petrucci Co., Inc. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, she was cited as an accomplished real estate entrepreneur who has served the association in many ways.

Named to the association's prestigious Hall of Fame were Lloyd Tubman of Archer & Greiner; Daniel Cronheim of Cronheim Mortgage; and Joe Morris of The Morris Companies. Tubman was recognized for her 25-year association membership, including serving on the Board of Trustees, as legal counsel, and on numerous committees. Cronheim was saluted for supporting the chapter in many ways, including on the Brownfields and Golf committees, Land Use Task Force, and as a long-time supporter of the association's community action projects. And Morris was honored for his strong support of NAIOP's advocacy programs, and for his service as a chapter officer and Trustee, and work on numerous committees.

The program included the Awarding of the Frank D. Visceglia Memorial Scholarship by Nicole Visceglia-Rodgers of Federal Business Centers and former NAIOP New Jersey president Jeff Milanaik of CrownPoint Group. Honoree Eagle Scout Kevin Vroman of Freehold, N.J. was recognized for his volunteer work for the LADACIN Network, a non-profit organization serving children and adults with disabilities. His Eagle Scout project was designing and building wheelchair-accessible outdoor tables, as well as shelving units to store spare parts for wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
