  • Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ (1888PressRelease) July 03, 2012 - As the economy's recovery remains slow, and because New Jersey's food banks often experience a drop in donations in the warm weather months, NAIOP New Jersey will for the third straight year team with the Community Food Bank (CFB) of New Jersey to conduct a food drive and volunteer day. The chapter's 2012 Community Action Project volunteer day is slated for July 13.

In 2011, NAIOP New Jersey members assisted the CFB by contributing more than 1,000 pounds of food, plus substantial cash donations through collections at their respective offices, at association events and through a Virtual Food Drive. Many of the volunteers brought donations with them on volunteer day as well.

CFB, a designated 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supplies food to 1,500 soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, after-school programs and senior centers across the State of New Jersey.

NAIOP New Jersey members are once again conducting food collections at their places of business and making monetary donations. NAIOP NJ volunteers will spend the day at the Food Bank in Hillside on July 13, with a combination of half-day and full-day shifts from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The 2012 Food Drive is NAIOP New Jersey's latest effort in a long tradition of community service, with a longstanding goal of helping to make the state's communities better places in which to live and work.
