    Musikgarten Twin Cities has three locations in the south Minneapolis / Eagan area and provides music classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers up to age 5. It is designed to nurture the child's music aptitude by engaging families in singing and movement activities which attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body.

    "Musikgarten is the only program that is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music," says owner Emily Ireland, adding that each semester, families add to their home library with a new CD, songbook, and instruments.

    Specific classes include:
    All Together Now - capturing the magic of nursery rhymes in a versatile mixed-age curricula (for ages birth to 5 years old); Family Music for Toddlers - an energetic, exploratory experience combining singing, listening, playing instruments, and expressive movement (for ages 14 months to 3 years old); and Cycle of Seasons - a musical celebration of the four seasons (for children ages 3 to 5 years old.)

    Also, new this session are music and movement storytime classes, which are designed with working parents in mind. The morning Music & Movement Storytime class offers families a chance to bond, relax and awaken with music. Activities come alive with movement activities, simple songs and nursery rhymes, instruments and a weekly story. Emphasis will be placed on introducing parents and caregivers to a wide variety of activities they can use to ease the transitions throughout the day.

    The bedtime Music & Movement Storytime offers families a chance to bond and relax in a cozy evening environment. Activities will include soothing movement activities, simple songs and nursery rhymes, preparing for bedtime songs and a weekly bedtime story. Emphasis will be placed on introducing parents and caregivers to a wide variety of activities they can use to ease the transition from a busy day to a pleasant bedtime routine. Children are encouraged to bring pillows and cuddlies for the last fifteen minutes of class.
