  • (1888PressRelease) December 08, 2011 - This is Monte De Oro's first proprietary Rhone varietal blend.

Temecula Valley 's soils are created from decomposing granitic materials that provide ideal drainage for grapevines . Additionally, the temperatures and climate in Temecula Valley is very conducive to growing Rhone varietal grapes. The soils and climate contribute to clean, pure varietal flavors that you enjoy in this wine.

Monte De Oro's Cuvée De Oro consists of:
    35% Grenache (Rameriz Vineyard)
    30% Mourvedre (Galway Vineyard)
23% Syrah (Vista del Monte Vineyard)
    12% Cinsault (Tuclota Vineyard)

This wine was barrel-aged for 27 months with 23% being in new French Oak Barrels and 77% being in 2-4 year old French Oak neutral barrels. This wine was bottled on March 7, 2011.

Monte De Oro's 2008 Cuvee De Oro is a pleasurable Rhone blend with light/medium ruby color with flashes of amber/garnet tones. Its bouquet is of gently cooked red fruits - strawberries, cherries, red currants and red delicious apples, with hints of cherry blossoms, oak and vanilla. The wine's integrated balance offers a delightful combination of medium flavor intensity, acidity and tannin structure. With a smooth mouthfeel, you will taste red cherries, strawberries, raspberries and plum accentuated by holiday spices like gingerbread cookies, cinnamon, and star anise. The wine provides a nice, pleasurable finish that is long and dry. Will pair nicely with turkey, pork and foie gras with fingerling potatoes.
