  • St. Louis, MO-IL (1888PressRelease) July 23, 2020 - Modular Elevator Manufacturing (MEM) has doubled its production facility as sales continue to grow. This is in response to the effort to promote and market the commercial quality modular elevator product nationwide in the beginning of 2020 as a safer alternative. MEM elevators are now scheduled to ship from the Los Angeles based company to as far away as New York City and projects are being considered at all points in between.

The growth in the modular elevator market is despite the Covid-19 outbreak due to several factors. The primary is that modular elevators set in less than a day and are started up in less than a week. This means there are fewer people coming and going from a congested construction job site. This contrasts with the way elevators have been built in the past requiring a steady stream of workers working in close quarters.

With conventional elevators a hoistway is constructed and then all the components are shipped to the job site and painstakingly and dangerously installed one piece at a time in a small confined area. Modular elevators are a tough, steel hoistway with the elevator components already installed in a controlled factory environment. They arrive onsite and are craned into place, then started up when power is available.

This means that fewer people are at the job site making it a safer to social distance. Due to the need for fewer workers, it is also a greener option.

At the newly enlarged production facility MEM will produce elevators from simple ADA compliant models to freight elevators. They are routinely utilized in several types of buildings including educational, hospitality, healthcare, multi-family, commercial, storage and parking structures.
