  • (1888PressRelease) April 29, 2011 - Troy, Michigan -- The International Academy of Design & Technology Detroit (IADT) student fashion show was an enormous success. The annual fashion show that is appropriately called Imagine was held March 16th at the historic Royal Oak Music Theatre. The show now in its seventh year featured original designs by students of the Fashion Design and Fashion Design and Merchandising programs at IADT's Detroit (Troy) campus. The fashion show was hosted by Miss Michigan USA Channing Pierce and fashion designer William Malcolm.

The student designers dazzled and captivated the audience at the sold out event with their original designs during the runway portion of the fashion show. The show was full of surprises including a special award presentation to fashion design chair Julie Patterson, nominated for Educator of the Year, from IADT-Detroit president Cynthia Bechill. The show concluded with the naming of Best of Show winner Cheryl Jackson.

"We're thrilled to showcase Metro Detroit's talented student fashion designers," said Julie Patterson, fashion design program chair at IADT-Detroit. "Our students work extremely hard to prepare for this special event."

IADT-Detroit and the Imagine fashion show have a long history of assisting the community of Michigan through charitable support and this year was no exception. The college set an ambitious goal to donate $10,000 dollars from its Imagine Fashion show box office sales to the Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Michigan. The school succeeded in reaching its goal and on April 12th IADT-Detroit President Cynthia Bechill with the assistance of U.S. Congressman Gary Peters presented a check in the amount of $10,000 to Jennifer Litomisky, executive director of Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Michigan.

"On behalf of the Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Michigan, thank you to IADT-Detroit for their volunteering and financial support," said Jennifer Litomisky, executive director of Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Michigan. "We couldn't do the things we do without the support of organizations like IADT-Detroit."

"We're pleased to be able to help support families with seriously ill children," said Cynthia Bechill, president of IADT-Detroit. "We hope that our donation encourages other institutions and Metro Detroiters to contribute to organizations like the Ronald McDonald House of Southeast Michigan."
