  • Prescott, AZ (1888PressRelease) August 07, 2011 - MI Windows and Doors (MIWD) announced that it has launched a new energy efficient window and door line, the MI EnergyCore™ Window System, which is manufactured on a new state-of-the-art production line in Prescott Valley, Arizona.

The MI EnergyCore Window System is designed for optimal energy efficiency and high performance without compromising style and functionality. The system's high performance is derived from a combination of patented AirCell PVC frame technology, TMAX Insulating Glass, and a design that incorporates numerous physical barriers against air and water infiltration.

The line provides a complete, cost-effective family of products to meet the next phase of ENERGY STAR requirements and to qualify for the Department of Energy's High Performance Windows Program (R-5). "Most high performance window systems offered today involve complicated exceptions. For example, some styles meet the grade while other styles or configurations do not. MI EnergyCore™ is designed to meet the grade in any style or any configuration. Therefore, homeowners do not need to sacrifice style or aesthetic upgrades to gain performance," states Mike DeSoto, President of MI's Western division.

The frame is manufactured with a patented AirCell™ PVC material that is co-extruded and thermally bonded. This creates a fully insulating, corner welded frame that results in superior energy efficiency and strength. The frame also incorporates oversized balance pockets and optimally placed internal webbing to handle the weight of 1 1/8 OA triple pane insulating glass across the entire size catalog, and with any grid or glass combination including tempered and laminate glass. These important design attributes result in one of the most comprehensive offerings of R-5 (u-value .20) windows on the market. Not only is the frame extremely energy efficient, but it is also environmentally-friendly, made of 20% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable.

Numerous air and water barriers are engineered into the panel and frame interface. These barriers include multiple contact points of weather stripping and/or compression bulbs, reinforced/interlocking meeting rails, and a pocketed sill with a sloped drainage path. These features are designed to prevent air and water infiltration even in harsh conditions. All styles of the MI EnergyCore™ Series have been tested to an AAMA Performance Grade LC-40 or above.

There are two solid vinyl color options available for the windows: white and adobe, made from an AAMA certified PVC Blend which is engineered for, and field-tested in extreme environments. In addition to the vinyl colors, an optional pre-finished SuperCapSR™ bronze exterior color is available on both the adobe and white frames. For maximum durability, the SuperCapSR™ color technology is co-extruded with a thermally fused acrylic to create a molecularly-fused color layer that becomes an integral part of the profile. Unlike painted vinyl, the tough acrylic color layer is highly scratch, chip, and chalk-resistant and 12 times harder than applied paints. SuperCapSR's highly reflective properties prevents damaging heat build-up on the PVC frame.

For added security and sound control the MI EnergyCore™ windows can be upgraded with SQS Laminate glass. Like the laminate glass in an automobile windshield, SQS glass provides safety from internal or external penetration. Additionally, the unique PVB interlayer reduces the sound transmission by up to 50% while providing over 99% UV protection.

To compliment the efficient window line, a French Rail Patio Door is offered as well. The MI EnergyCore™ French Rail Patio Door offers superior thermal performance and is built using MikronWood, a solid core thermoplastic material that is rot-proof and nearly impervious to insects, moisture and humidity. The result is a traditional mortise and tenon joined door with the look and feel of a wood door but the weather-resistant, high energy efficiency and no-maintenance advantages of a composite.

The entire line incorporates the rich features and options expected in a premium window line including PVD plated hardware, stainless steel coastal packages and extruded aluminum screens with Clarity™ mesh.

To support the window launch, MIWD has developed a multi-pronged marketing strategy that includes mobile and social media tools and an iPad application in addition to traditional tools like a robust website.

The website has been designed around customer types with easy access for homeowners who are looking for information about energy efficient windows and doors, professionals like builders and architects who need installation and technical information, and a password-protected dealer portal with tools to help market, sell, and support the new window line. The website is media-rich and has been designed to be accessible via all devices including all web browsers, tablets, and Smartphones with both web and mobile-friendly versions.

The marketing strategy also includes a comprehensive social media campaign, and it has launched a Facebook page, http://facebook.com/mienergycore, a Twitter feed, http://twitter.com/mienergycore, and a YouTube Channel, http://YouTube.com/mienergycore.

A custom iPad application has been developed for MI EnergyCore™ Certified Dealers that allows them to have instant access to specs, brochures, and videos that have been developed to explain the advantages of the windows and doors. It allows technical, sales, and marketing materials to be updated electronically saving time and resources.

The company is in the final stages of testing the windows and will start taking orders on August 15th. In order to successfully ramp up the production of the MI EnergyCore Window System, a two phase launch has been planned for. Phase 1 will be complete in August and Phase 2 in September. Phase 1 will include the release of the following window styles: Double Hung, Casement, Picture Window, Awning, and French Rail Patio Door; and Phase 2 will add Single Hung, Single Slider, XOX, Combination Slide Windows, and the Specialty Shape windows to the product line.

"Our window dealers and their customers desire a good, better, best offering," adds DeSoto. "MIWD strives to be best-in-class in each of these categories and MI EnergyCore™ met our test for the best. The products are designed to be significantly more energy efficient, stronger, more secure and quieter than any other complete family of products on the market."

The windows and doors will be sold through MI EnergyCore™ Certified Dealers, who have been trained and certified to best present the features and benefits of the new energy efficient window system. Window dealers who are interested in finding out how to sell the new product line can find more information on the website.
