  • (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2015 - Kuala Lumpur - An exclusive group of VIPs, media, bloggers and celebrities were the guests of Melinda Looi Fashion Suites.

Fashion veteran Melinda Looi chose the newly renovated presidential suites of the Pullman Hotel Bangsar as the venue, which was especially set up by the Singapore lifestyle and furniture company Commune to achieve the luxurious and intimate 'fashion suites concept', an event concept the designer got exposed to when recently travelling overseas.

Guests were pampered by manicure services, hand massages and make up touch-ups by Diptyque Paris, Laura Mercier and Caudalie Paris respectively, while a mini fashion show for the collections took place. Mesmerizing all senses, guests were furthermore treated to some of the latest creations of the Pullmans's top chefs paired with Moet Chandon champagne.

The launch of Melinda Looi's 2016 Cruise collection comes right at a time where shoppers will be looking for their new Christmas or Chinese New Year clothing to celebrate the respective festivities in style and the fashion designer used the opportunity to also allow her guests to have a first sneak peak at her Spring Summer 2016 collection, which just recently returned to Malaysia from international fashion and trade shows in Milan, Paris and Shanghai.

Festive shoppers can immediately get their hands on the Cruise 2016 collection at Melinda Looi's showroom at 131, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar, while fashionistas aiming for the SS2016 collection can mark March 2016 in their calendars.

ABOUT MELINDA LOOI - CRUISE 2016
The collection is based on the rich culture and style of Baba Nyonya. Baba Nyonya are the descendants of the early Chinese immigrants who inter-married with local folks. This historical inspiration is the grounding of a traditional collection with a twist of modernity and vibrant colours.

Melinda's signature style of fabric mixing and detail is shown beautifully in this fun collaboration of traditional Batik fabrics and colourful prints for festive Christmas events and Chinese New Year gatherings.

"I have always loved the beautiful heritage of Baba Nyonya, the rich culture that influences the style of dressing. This collection is my interpretation of a ready-to-wear just perfect for your Chinese New Year or Christmas function with a touch of Baba Nyonya." says the designer.

ABOUT MELINDA LOOI - SPRING SUMMER 2016
Life's Lines and Crossings - Melinda Looi's Spring/Summer 2016 collection is based on one of the designer's own paintings which depicts abstract organic bird-like forms camouflaged against geometric shapes. Using delicate brushstrokes, hundreds of lines weave in and out of each other, mirroring the many pathways and intersections of life.

"The prints of this collection are inspired by the way in which people and events keep crossing, life is not complicated, just full of connections," said Melinda. The embroidery and patchwork soften the hard edges of the design lines, to create a very wearable yet symbolically complex collection.

The collection was launched at Hong Kong Fashion Week in July and was later shown at tradeshows and private showrooms in Paris, Milan and Shanghai, where it was highly praised from numerous international buyers.

The collection will be available from March 2015 onwards in Malaysia and selected international multi label designer stores.
