Meals On Wheels South Florida Celebrates Volunteers At 9th Annual Appreciation Luncheon

  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) September 26, 2018 - Members of the South Florida community are invited to attend Meals on Wheels South Florida’s 9th Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on October 26, 2018. With the support of generous corporate partners, the luncheon will celebrate nearly 500 individuals who donate the gift of time to Meals on Wheels South Florida and the senior clients they serve. Meals on Wheels South Florida is hosting their “Under the Big Top” circus-themed event from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, located at 1230 South Pine Island Road in Plantation.

    The event will feature a menu specially designed by The Renaissance Hotel, award ceremony, silent auction, performances by Cirque Dreams and more. Proceeds/sponsorships will benefit Meals on Wheels South Florida, which strives to end hunger across all ages with kindness, dignity and compassion.

    The volunteer team at Meals on Wheels South Florida assists the organization by delivering meals to home-bound clients, provides grocery shopping assistance to seniors who are unable to shop for themselves, serving meals at congregate dining sites and more. Volunteers also spearhead the Meals for Companion Pets Program, which delivers pet food once a month to home-bound seniors who need assistance taking care of their animals.

    Meals on Wheels South Florida is part of a national network, Meals on Wheels America, the only national organization and network dedicated solely to ending senior hunger in America. They are the oldest and largest organization composed of and representing local, community-based Senior Nutrition Programs in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

    “The volunteer appreciation luncheon was designed to recognize volunteers as the backbone of our organization,” said Mark Adler, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels South Florida. “It is our dedicated volunteer team of nearly 500 individuals that deliver not only thousands of meals a day county-wide, but also the friendly smiles and safety checks that enable seniors to remain independent in their own homes.”

    Remaining event sponsorships range from $1,000 to $7,500. Additional packages and sponsorship opportunities may be tailored to specific individual, corporate and community objectives.
