  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) April 01, 2011 - For the first time in 28 years, the McDonald's All American High School Basketball games were held in Chicago. It was an exciting week for the All Stars, beginning with the Powerade JAM Fest including both skills and dunk contests on Monday, an honorary banquet Tuesday night, and the official games at the United Center on Wednesday. The proceeds of this year's events benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana, providing a 'home away from home' to keep families of hospitalized children together.

The All Star athletes have been showcased throughout the week in Chicago. Tuesday night was an important evening for the student athletes as McDonald's honored them at a banquet hosted at Navy Pier. Jay Williams, former McDonald's All Star Athlete and current ESPN sports analyst, was the keynote speaker of the evening and helped to welcome the 48 students who were chosen from across America to compete in the games. Past student athletes include Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Candace Parker, and Derrick Rose.

The event included dinner, paddle raise donations, as well as an interactive silent auction. Guests were able to bid electronically with Events.org's iBid™ which allowed guests to use their personal smart phones or use a device provided by Events.org. Over 700 guests attended the event, and $62,000 was raised.

With iBid™, guests have the option to participate in the auction using their personal Smart-Phones, iBid™ handhelds, iPads, and touch-screen bidding kiosks. By eliminating paper bid sheets, guests are immediately involved in the auction and are also able to track favorite items, place maximum bid amounts, receive outbid notifications, and search for items, categories, and keywords. iBid benefits both the bidder and the organization. The bidder has an easy and convenient way to bid in real-time wherever they are whenever they want throughout the evening; the organization is able to take advantage of the new affordable technology which ultimately leads to higher charitable proceeds.

iBid™ is the brainchild of Chicago based software company Events.org. Founded in 2002 by a philanthropic foundation, Events.org is a premier software management and consulting company providing on-demand software and services to charities, schools, universities, and business foundations across the nation.
