  • (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2012 - Montreal, Canada and Fremont, California - Matrox and Exxact Corporation today announced a joint demonstration, at I/ITSEC 2012, that will show how high-performance-computing content from a single NVIDIAŽ QuadroŽ K5000 GPU can scale in Full HD resolution up to a 16-monitor synchronized video wall while being controlled over an IP network device. This system features the Matrox Avio F120 fiber-optic KVM extender, Matrox Mura MPX Series video wall controller boards, and Matrox Maevex video distribution over IP technology in conjunction with Exxact's GPU workstation. Visit Exxact's booth #2068 at I/ITSEC, from December 3 - December 6 in Orlando, Florida at the Orange County Convention Center.

"Exxact and Matrox are collaborating to eliminate costs I/ITSEC visitors may incur from redundant software licenses and custom development associated with scaling and enhancing HPC visualization on legacy solutions," said Jason Chen, Vice President of Exxact Corporation. "We can power more monitors from less systems for less money, and it's easier to deploy than ever before."

A Matrox Avio F120 KVM extender will be used to extend the HPC graphics output over fiber-optic cable without compressing the data or adding any latency. The Avio F120 transmitter will show the content locally on two DVI monitors, while the dual-DVI outputs of the Avio F120 receiver unit will be sent into the Mura MPX-based video wall controller. The data output from a single NVIDIAŽ QuadroŽ K5000 GPU, which can support up to 4 individual monitors, will then be captured, scaled, and displayed at Full HD resolution via Mura MPX boards onto a 16-monitor video wall. This demonstrates how you can take advantage of GPGPU processing power in a secure environment and remotely operate the rich graphical outputs of HPC machines, simultaneously viewing the content and adding enhancements such as scaling on large-scale visualization walls in real time.

The content will also be distributed over the network and viewed on a separate laptop through the use of the Matrox Maevex Series dedicated H.264 encode/decode platform. Maevex will demonstrate how to cost effectively distribute the outputs of Exxact's GPU workstation for viewing on any node of a standard network. This effectively turns regular low-cost systems into nodes capable of displaying even the most graphically complex data.

"Matrox and Exxact are able to combine cutting-edge technology for GPGPU computing with cutting-edge technology for real-time visualization and collaboration," said Samuel Recine, Matrox Graphics Director of Sales Americas & Asia Pacific. "Every aspect of this demonstration will have some appeal to the visitors of a training and simulation event like I/ITSEC."

Exxact will also showcase HPC solutions featuring NVIDIA Tesla K20 GPU accelerators. Based on the latest GPU architecture, NVIDIA Tesla K20 accelerators are designed from the ground up to maximize computational performance with superior power efficiency. With more than one teraflop peak double precision performance per K20 GPU board, Exxact Tesla K20 Systems are ideal for high performance computing applications including modeling, CFD, CAE, computational physics, and seismic processing.
