  • (1888PressRelease) May 30, 2012 - Marlo Productions has signed a deal with Aguamarga Gestion De Estudios in Alicante, Spain, to represent Marlo in Europe with European partners and to secure our production of the feature film, Marrow of the High Cedar, in the new state of the art sound stages at Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante, Spain.

The studio has been the home to over 75 films and TV series over its six years of operations. The popularity of the studio is not only a result of its size and up to date technology, but also its ideal Mediterranean location and its proximity to nearby castles, forests, beaches, the sea, mountains, and abandoned villages. The film, Marrow of the High Cedar, which is set in the early 1200's in Spain and France, will require just such locations and sets, in addition to the work done on sound stages.

The film will not be shot entirely in Spain, with a significant share of the filming taking place in neighboring France. Marlo is still discussing locations and options for France but has already brought on a Paris-based line producer to work with them on the project.

"Needless to say, we are super excited to be working with Aguamarga and Ciudad de la Luz in Spain," said Dianna Perales Harris, the lead producer on the project. We are very confident that Aguamarga will represent the project well and everything we have seen regarding the physical studio has been impressive. Our discussions with our Paris contacts, and the way the French Film Commission works so hard to make shooting in France as easy as possible, makes us very excited we have focused on these two countries. Although our film is set in Spain and France, of course we could have shot it in other European countries made to pass as France and Spain. But with the people and places we are working with, it is even better, both business-wise and production-wise, to shoot in the actual countries."

Marrow of the High Cedar is being directed by Earnest Harris and is an epic love story and adventure, based on actual people and events, about a Spanish princess who falls in love with the heir to the French throne who quickly and brutally rises to be King. When his quest for power threatens those she loves, she is forced to make a choice between her love and her loyalty to family and her principles.
