  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) January 10, 2012 - "It was great to see how effective staging was in getting an offer on the townhouse", Dazzo said. Donna Dazzo, President and owner of Designed to Appeal, a Manhattan-based home staging and interior redesign company, was invited by a real estate agent of Gumley Haft and Kleier to do a home staging consultation for one of their listings to be filmed for the HGTV series, Selling New York. The Kleier family members are regular cast members on the show.

"I was very flattered and excited when I received the call to not only help the Kleiers with one of their listings, but also to be filmed for the HGTV hit show, Selling New York", Dazzo said.

According to the HGTV website, "Selling New York is a world where a solid reputation at the top of the real estate food chain involves swimming with the sharks, going head-to-head with the best, and rubbing shoulders with the wealthiest and trendiest of New York's social, political and artistic elite."

In the summer of 2011, Dazzo was filmed by HGTV doing a home staging consultation with the real estate agent as well as the owners of a five-story townhouse on West 25th Street in Manhattan, listed for $5.75 million. The home was occupied by a husband and wife and their five children. Dazzo toured each floor of the home, which included five bedrooms, as well as the two outdoor spaces: an enclosed patio off the family room on the lower floor and a roof-top deck off the master bedroom on the upper floor.

Her recommendations to the homeowners included decluttering and depersonalizing the space, as well as adding artwork to the bare walls and sprucing up the outdoor space.

On the show, when the homeowner remarked "It feels like you're asking us to depersonalize our home", Dazzo's response was "When you're selling your home, it's really not your home anymore. It's a product that needs to be marketed."

The homeowners and the real estate agent took Dazzo's advice and did the staging themselves. According to the show, shortly after the staging, the owners received a satisfactory offer at a little less than asking price.

At the end of the show when the homeowner asked the agent if the decluttering and staging they did really made a difference, the real estate agent replied "I absolutely do, it really made a difference. When the buyer came in she remarked how beautiful, clean and fresh the house was, and that they could just move right in."

"Having this happen so quickly, based upon some simple advice they gave us, is really fantastic", the homeowner said.
