  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) May 19, 2016 - On Friday, May 13, 2016 Managed Solution, a full-service technology firm, hosted its second annual charity golf tournament at the Crossings at Carlsbad to benefit Computers 2 San Diego Kids.

With over 30 sponsors, 80 golfers and 100 overall attendees, the event not only brought together partners, customers and friends in the community, but helped raise over $10,000 for Computers 2 San Diego Kids, helping low-income children and their families receive refurbished computers as well as increase their access to educational, occupational and financial resources and the related skills to effectively use that technology.

The golf tournament kicked off with lunch sponsored by Jersey Mike's of Carlsbad followed by a Helicopter Ball Drop 50/50 where buckets of numbered golf balls were dropped from a helicopter hovering over a designated hole. Fifty percent of the proceeds were donated to Computers 2 San Diego Kids while the other fifty percent provided a cash prize to the winner. The winning golf ball was #43 belonging to Mike Luck of Time Warner, who generously donated half of his winnings back to Computers 2 San Diego Kids.

Before tee-off, Sean Ferrel, president and chief executive officer of Managed Solution welcomed the golfers and talked about how grateful he is for all the tournament support, speaking about their partnership with C2SDK and later introducing Cheri Pierre, chief executive officer of Computers 2 San Diego Kids, who shared some information on how easy it is to get involved with the foundation.

"We met Computers 2 San Diego Kids a few years back and have been looking forward to the opportunity to support them," said Sean Ferrel, president of Managed Solution. "We walked into a warehouse here in San Diego and we saw real families in need picking out computers and an organization that was really making a difference in their lives. We're proud to help raise funds to support them today and in the future," said Ferrell as he raised a glass of Stone beer and saluted their sponsorship and participation in this year's event.

The top sponsors for the Managed Solution 2nd Annual Golf Tournament included Microsoft, Jersey Mike's, Cox Business, Toyota of Escondido, StorageCraft, San Diego Business Journal, Stone Brewing, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., and Dell. Other businesses supported the tournament by donating items for the silent auction and golfer swag bags, including Home Depot, Hyatt Place, Courtyard Marriott, San Diego Credit Union, Edible Arrangements, Broken Yolk Café, SeaWorld, Orange Theory, Rise Bar, Runner Mobile Tech Gear, SportClips, CCSD, La Costa Dentistry and Orthodontics, LA Fitness, San Marcos Yoga, Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen, Body Solutions 101, Jenny Craig, Smart & Final, Siam Royal Thai Massage, and Braces San Diego.

Computers 2 San Diego Kids also works with the military to keep families connected during deployments. "We also have huge support in the military and we work with enlisted men and women to make sure they stay connected when they are deployed," said Cheri Pierre, chief executive officer of Computers 2 San Diego Kids. " When you think about replacing your computers give us a call and we'll make sure they go back into the community where they could be used to help our children have a better future."

Organized by Managed Solution, the golf tournament is an annual tradition to bring together partners, customers and friends in the community as well as raise funds to promote and support educational programs related to technology, such as Computers 2 San Diego Kids.

Last year's tournament raised over $6,000 and this year Managed Solution was proud to announce that they raised over $10,000 for Computers 2 San Diego Kids.

The tournament concluded with an Awards Reception and BBQ Buffet to congratulate the tournament winners. First, second and third place winners received invitations to play in the Randy Jones Invitational in January 2017.

"In all seriousness thank you all so much for coming out and supporting Cheri and Computers 2 San Diego Kids today, we really do try hard to find computers that people aren't using and get them back into the hands of those who really need them and we're happy to support such a great cause, " said Sean Ferrel as he closed up the Awards Reception after the tournament.
