LPU organizing International Conference on Strategies for Global Competitiveness and Economic Growth

  • (1888PressRelease) August 28, 2015 - The world economy is going through a difficult phase, Lovely Professional University has risen to the occasion by organizing an international conference on 'Strategies for Global Competitiveness and Economic Growth'. Through its ACBSP accredited School of Business, LPU has brought together experts from different disciplines and part of the world at the conference to discuss diverse issues and strategies. The issues include sluggish growth in developed economies; conflict of interests between developing and developed world; regional economic strains & armed conflicts; challenging international economic cooperation and more. In the Conference 200+ papers in 55 sub topics under would be discussed during different sessions on both the days. Head of the League of Arab States Mission Hon'ble Dr Mazin Al-Masoudi inaugurated the opening session of the conference today. On this occasion, an International Journal and a Book, containing important research papers concerning the conference, were also released.

    Addressing the business planners and scholars, Hon'ble Al-Masoudi was humble in appreciating the role of Indian Government for playing significant role in Palestine Issue and global economy particularly concerning the Arab nations. Educated in India, Mr Masoudi wished: "We want further enhancement in political, social, cultural ties with India for formation of Indo Arab Forum. India and Arab world can have co-operation for oil and other natural resources. Arab world is open for Indian engagements that accord good relations between India and Arab world. The purpose here is enhancement of economic relations through Indo-Arab participations. With co-operation and participations between India and Arab nations, we will work together for trade opportunities."

    Key-note speakers at the conference are Mr Mahesh Munjal (Chairman & Managing Director, Hero Majestic Auto Ltd); Prof S P Parashar (Former Director IIM Indore); Dr Swarnim Waghle (Member, National Planning Commission Nepal); Prof Dr C E Tapie Rohm Jr (California State University USA); and, Prof S S Gill (Director General, CRRID). Economic Adviser to Government of India Mr Mohan Chuttani was also present to interact with students. All of them congratulated LPU School of Business for selection of the timely topic of the conference.

    Great industrialist Mr Munjal wanted that as inflation is controllable it should be controlled with incentive schemes. Rate of interest should be decreased to promote purchasing capacity and competitiveness.

    Prof Prashar openly declared that he is always available for LPU which has shown its potential in an amazing way. In nutshell, he underlined that for global success a one should be quality, reliability, timeliness, price and networking oriented. Taking example of Mahabharat's Lord Krishna and Arjuna, he asked all to have completeness of vision and ability to execute. Mr Waghle laid stress on regional economic integration among SAARC countries to be as strong as European Union. He referred to PM Modi's many policies, particularly manufacturing, for economic strength in the region. Prof Gill hinted that India will have to increase its competitiveness by devaluing its currency for more exports. He also stressed that purchasing power is not increasing as there is low and inequality of wages.

    LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal forwarded his concern: "Seeing so much turmoil in diverse economies businesses of the world, we have come forward with present conference to contemplate on the possible solutions. We feel that on one side markets in the developing world including Asia are waiting to be tapped by the MNCs, the competition on the other is getting more intense in the existing markets. We feel that the conference is a suitable opportunity to deliberate and set the research agenda for competitive advantage and economic growth." Mr Mittal expected: "Keep up with the time and the latest technology as only the fittest is going to survive. Today, the world has changed altogether from the gone years."
