LPU hosting Ministry of Culture supported Global Female Folk Dance Competition & Carnival

  • (1888PressRelease) January 10, 2016 - Allowing its students to imbibe multi-ethnicity and diversity in global cultural heritage, Lovely Professional University is hosting one of the biggest cultural fest in Asia- 'Global Female Folk Dance Competition & Carnival' at its campus. Organized by Ministry of Culture (Government of India) supported Charu Castle Foundation (CCF), this 18th edition of the cultural fest is to witness more than 60 international & national folk dances up to 28th November 2015. International teams from China, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and more are participating along with 60 other national teams. The colourful fest inaugurated today is involving young women from globe across to share self and appreciate others' culture. Winning team will be awarded with cash prize of Rs 51,000 and four prominent artists of the Punjab state will be specially honoured.

    LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared that this fest is sure to promote cultural exchange & admiration among LPU students and other assembled from different quarters of not only India but other countries also. Mr Mittal said: "This five day culture-exchange bonanza, which is patronized by many reputed national and international bodies, is sure to teach women in particular to stand for self, humane and social causes." LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal & Lt General (Retd) of Indian Army Mr Amrik Singh Bahia were also present on the occasion.

    Mammoth student audience is going to witness traditional folk dances including Saman dance by Indonesian students; Kara-Zhorga dance form of Kazakhstan; Tibetan Guozhuang dance; national ballets of China; Ghatu, Santal and Jhumur dances from Bangladesh; ancient classical dances Kumari & Manjushree of Nepal; Sri Lankan dance Mangalam; Gujarat state's Raas Garba; Assam's Bihu, Sammi & Giddha of Punjab; Laavni of Maharashtra; Wancho dance of Arunachal Pradesh; and, a many more.

    Chief Organizer from CCF, Mr Kapur V Bhan and General Secretary Pawan Kapur informed: "The fest is solely dedicated to the female fraternity of the world. Main aim is to carry women favouring messages- 'Save the Girl Child' and 'Abhor Female Feticides'. This competition has no registration fee and is solely devoted to the promotion of art and culture in the entire world." One of the participating students from Kyrgyzstan, Ms Anora Chilorostova shared that this competition is the best competition for women, "I am very much delighted to be in India and that too at its largest university LPU. I am excited to perform on its great stage before the mammoth student-audience, and on sharing culture of my country with others."
