  • (1888PressRelease) December 27, 2010 - With the latest 37-inch LCD panel for public display, the gap between panels is just 4㎜ (left/right: 1.5㎜, top/bottom: 2.5㎜). As the product has extremely thin borders, it produces a seamless-looking images when many panels are arranged together to create a large screen.

Public displays refer to displays that provide information to many people in a public place. They are used for digital advertisements, bulletin boards and for decorating purposes on the inner and outer walls of buildings. One of the important points with public displays is to use large screens that can draw public attention and installing the panels to fit the size of the display venue. As such, several panels are placed next to each other in many instances.

Also the panel is based on the concept of freely expanding the size of public displays as necessary. With a thinner border allowing for natural-looking images, there are no limits to the number of panels that can be put together or constraints in terms of screen size or form. This enables public displays suited for long horizontal space like those in subway stations and even super-large multi-screen displays to fill up a building’s exterior wall

Dr. Chung In Jae, CTO and Vice President of LG Display, noted, “The LCD panel for public display supports a wide range of applications and is likely to gather further attention and position as one of the core area in the future display industry subsequent to the IT and TV sectors. LG Display will step up efforts to spearhead the global technology trends in public displays.”

The product will be showcased in nine panels (3 by 3 arrangements) to create a 111-inch multi-vision display, at ‘FPD (Flat Panel Display) International Japan 2010’. The exhibition will be held during November 10~12 in Chiba, Japan.
