  • (1888PressRelease) October 01, 2013 - Mumbai - The walk was organized by Ranbaxy Laboratories in association with Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel, on the side-lines of the CAD conference organized by the Cardio Vascular Society of India focusing on various aspects of prevention and treatment. This conference is attended by over 1000 cardiologists from across the country and international scientists and clinicians in the field of cardiology.

    Post the walk, doctors participated in 'Fittest Heart Contest' where they competed amongst themselves on treadmills at Club Renaissance for running the maximum distance. Winners were awarded exciting prizes.

    Every year 29th September is celebrated as 'World Heart Day'. This year's theme is 'take a road to a healthy heart' highlighting what actions to be taken through a person's life to reduce their risk of CVD. It addresses the importance of a life-course approach to the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease (CVD) like physical exercise and diet control.

    Highlighting the importance of physical activity, Dr. H Mardikar, one of the directors of CAD conference said, "The roadmap to a healthy heart starts with oneself, hence the need to create awareness at the level of healthcare professionals which can be further translated to patients. With unhealthy lifestyle on the rise, there is all the more need to sensitize about heart disease which is leading cause of death globally."

    On this occasion, Ranbaxy also organized an exciting quiz contest for the doctors. Scientific updates on cardiology and diabetology were shared to make the interaction lively.
