  • (1888PressRelease) July 26, 2013 - Festival Global, alongside with Lancelot Global Fund PCC and Conifer Capital is pleased to announce the launch of the Africa Gateway Fund ("the Fund"). The venture between the parties is the first common launch of a fund, amongst many of their several other collaborations in the financial services sector.

Africa is experiencing an economic renaissance and is currently - and projected to remain - one of the fastest growing regions in the world. This immensely wealthy continent offers a range of economic activities and is an increasingly attractive diversifier for global portfolios. The Africa Gateway Fund provides investors with access to the best investment opportunities across the African markets. Africa is the second largest continent by land area and population, behind only Asia. As its economies keep growing and its standards of living keep rising, high-growth public companies are emerging. The Africa Gateway Fund has been launched to take advantage of this trend and provide investors with the opportunity be part of this exciting new investment sphere.

The Fund will be invested mainly into the Sub-Saharan African emerging market, and will have a long-term investment horizon, as well as a well-diversified asset allocation, comprising of a mixture of funds, equities and bonds. It provides exposure to a selection of fast-growing economies in sub-Saharan Africa while also closely managing the risks. The Fund adopts a simultaneous top-down and bottom-up approach to identify securities with strong upside potential and may be under-valued by the market. The strategy is focused on providing a vehicle to investors through which they can have a broad exposure to Africa, whilst being strategically diversified across sectors, and themes.

'Africa is Asia more than a decade ago. Anybody who doesn't have an allocation to Africa is missing out. However, investors need to be cautious - some stocks are highly valued, especially those backed by big names as they are sought after by most investment managers in the region. Africa offers excellent opportunities - but these are emerging markets that still require strong and experienced guidance' says Bernard Futter, partner at Conifer Capital.

The fund is incorporated in Mauritius as an offshore structure. The Africa Gateway fund is a cell of Lancelot Global Fund PCC whereas the Belvedere Group acts as an administrator. The reputable group administers over 16.5 billion USD. Festival is the exclusive distributor and promoter. Conifer Capital acts as the investment advisor.

All parties involved in the Africa Gateway Fund have significant experience in Africa and its financial markets, and are supported by Festival Global's investment management team that consists of researchers and analysts possessing several years of experience in investment management. The team's strength includes portfolio management, product structuring, treasury management as well as several years of experience in the fund management and pension industry.
