(1888PressRelease) November 23, 2010 - Nearly two years after TFSAs were made available, close to five million Canadians have signed up but many remain constantly unclear on how to use the account as a proper tool for financial planning.

According to a recent poll performed for the Bank of Montreal, of the 1,513 adults surveyed in October 57 per cent didn't know that contributions inside the TFSAs mature tax free; 64 per cent were unaware that unexploited contribution space can be carried forward; and 78 per cent didn't know that, while able to own a number of TFSA accounts, the total contribution is limited to $5,000 annually.

"During the launch of the TFSA, its rules seemed straight-forward and simple," said Kustom Design CEO Mike Lepitre. "However with persistent confusions over TFSA rules, the best thing a taxpayer can do is seek professional help."

To make this support more readily available, Lepitre said that taxpayers are able to consult with any of Kustom Design's tax planners to distinguish whether or not a TFSA is the right choice.
