  • (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2011 - Overland Park, Kansas - Midwest Digital Systems from Kansas City, has been awarded the contract to install and maintain a new high tech, IP Megapixel video surveillance solution for the Delta Upsilon Fraternity House on the campus of Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas. The award came from Launch Development, Inc., the company who is the general contractor providing a cosmetic rehabilitation and upgrade to the facility. The system will include state-of-the-art ExacqVision network recorders and high-resolution Arecont IP/Megapixel security camera systems for both the interior and exterior of the fraternity house. The system will be fully functional and all staff will be trained on its operation before the beginning of classes in August.

What parent doesn't feel better knowing their children away at college are just a little safer? It's no different for the Delta Upsilon Fraternity House on the campus of Kansas University in Lawrence, Kansas. Having had some damage done in the past to vehicles in their parking lot, and looking at spending money to give the house a much needed cosmetic makeover, the Fraternity decided it was in the best interest of the students to include the installation of a new, state-of-the-art video surveillance system. Not only can these high resolution cameras cover the parking facility and exterior of the building, they will also be used inside to provide the students a safer environment to live in.

When Launch Development, Inc., the general contractor for the renovation knew that a video security surveillance system would be a part of the project, they sought out business security companies to provide the high level installation and maintenance needed for a system of this sophistication. As Ryan Osborn, Project Manager with Launch Development indicated, once Chad Sellers, President, and Nate Dowling, Director of Sales with Midwest Digital Systems, took the time to fully demonstrate various cameras and camera resolutions, he knew they were the ones to do the job. It was also a requirement that the company selected would need to complete the job and provide staff training before the start of classes in August and Midwest Digital Systems fit the bill.

The video surveillance system being installed is made up of several high-resolution Arecont IP/Megapixel cameras capable of zooming in to get clear pictures of license plates, faces and other important details, and in all kinds of lighting conditions. The external cameras will be equipped with weather proof enclosures for protection of the equipment. As for recorders, ExacqVision's video management system platform will be installed to provide sophisticated graphical search displays, multi-camera search, web browser viewing and mobile apps for Android and IPhone access. Another unique aspect of this security solution was the requirement by the Fraternity that there be a ten year warranty for maintenance of the equipment. Although a rare request, the Fraternity felt confident that Midwest Digital Systems would be around to support a lengthy warranty. As Nate Dowling said, "looks like they will have 10 years of outstanding service & support."

When classes begin at Kansas University this August, both parents and students can feel confident that the Delta Upsilon Fraternity House will be a safer place to live because of the sophisticated video surveillance system installed by Midwest Digital Systems.
