Jon Burney, Product Lead for Kite, said, "We approached Kite as if online learning environments were a brand new concept and started by asking schools what they wanted. Of course, some of the replies we received touched on the difficulties experienced with other systems, and we have addressed these.

"But the most exciting parts of Kite are the true innovations, the features not seen in a learning platform before. For the first time, schools are able to enjoy an intuitive system, based around the way they work. Our development partner schools are very excited by what they have seen."

Kite features drag and drop file management (new to web-based learning platforms) and its structure and layout are based around school timetables, systems and procedures. It integrates totally with the way schools and pupils work, says e4education, reducing the workload for teachers, rather than adding to it.

Launch Director Charlotte Wolfe joined the Kite project from the learning and coaching sector to take it into schools and share its benefits. She said, "Having been teaching for four years I could immediately see how the ability to create lessons out of blocks will save teachers time. It will enable them to develop more interactive and engaging learning materials. Kite is a real game-changer and will help schools and students achieve outstanding results."

The Kite team will be presenting the system at BETT 2012, January 11-14 at Olympia in London. For more information about Kite, please call 0345 257 4343 or email liftoff ( @ ) kitelearning dot co dot uk or visit www dot kitelearning dot co dot uk
