  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) September 07, 2016 - During the filming of the documentary, historians, preservationists, and the filmmaker, have been able to save quite a few buildings or historic sites. "Somebody has to save these buildings." said producer of The King's Highway and preservationist Joseph Menkevich. "Developers keep buying and knocking down historic buildings to build new modern buildings to sell for a profit. We are losing our history in the process."

    By using in-depth research, filling out historical nominations, and submitting them to the historic commission of Philadelphia, the team has been able to save the Garsed-Bromley mansion, the Lower Dublin Academy, The Byberry African-American cemetery, and other sites as well. "If only our politicians would help us, we would be in much better shape." said producer of The King's Highway and preservationist Debbie Klak. "Right now, Philadelphia has the lowest historic preservation budget of any American city. That is pretty sad considering we are the most historic city in the country."

    The King's Highway is a historical documentary film about the untold story of Philadelphia's impact on America and the historical significance of this region. The historic buildings and structures along the King's Highway and the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route are the foundation of the film. Augmenting that with in-depth historical coverage of the Northeast's three defining creeks and rivers, will allow for a very comprehensive depiction of the history of Philadelphia as a whole. "When I saw how many stories there were, and how many people were involved with the preservation of our history, I felt compelled to make a documentary about this topic." said the director of The King's Highway Jason Sherman. "My hope is to spread awareness and get more people involved, in order to help us save our history for future generations."

    Various expert speakers and documentary filmmaker Jason Sherman provide the narrative for the film. Archival footage, documents, photographs and artifacts gives viewers a glimpse into the past. Time lapse, aerial, and walk-through footage of many locations will allow viewers to see the beauty that has been all but forgotten. The goal of the film is to not only spread awareness about the historic value of this area, but to also showcase the historians and preservationists that are fighting to keep our beautiful city and the history of the United States of America intact.

    Written and directed by Jason Sherman, the historical documentary stars over thirty historians, experts, historical societies, civic associations, nonprofit organizations, politicians, and preservationists.

    "The King's Highway" is produced by Joseph Menkevich, Debbie Klak, and Fred Moore. The film joins many city hall officials, members of various historical societies, university PhD professors, editor Paul Henon and costume designer Mary Reynolds. The music is composed by Hesperus, with additional music by other notable composers. A Delphia Entertainment presentation of, "The King's Highway" will be hitting the 2016/2017 film festival circuit.
