  • (1888PressRelease) October 19, 2011 - Nedbank Business Banking has shown its commitment to making it easier to do business by recently launching, in conjunction with Neosho119, The Vuka Mentorship Programme™ to assist entrepreneurs across South Africa to develop their small or medium business enterprises.

Give your new business or idea the best chance at success. Apply for business mentorship training with the Vuka Mentorship Programme™ in Rustenburg, and you could receive all the guidance, training and financial support from Nedbank that you require to boost your new business!

The Vuka Mentorship Programme™ will be offered to entrepreneurs over two phases in eight municipal areas, including Polokwane, Kroonstad, Secunda, Rustenburg, Richards Bay, Port Shepstone, King Williams Town, and Mthatha.

The first phase is the Vuka Mentorship ProgrammeTM Goal Setting. 300 entrepreneurs will be selected and invited to the goal setting session, during which a screening process will be conducted to ensure that quality entrepreneurs with sustainable businesses and growth potential are selected to participate in phase two.

30 entrepreneurs will then be shortlisted to proceed to the second phase: The Vuka Mentorship ProgrammeTM Implement a Solid Business Idea. Here, a comprehensive mentorship programme shortlists entrepreneurs, and culminates in assisting with development of business plans, which will be submitted to Nedbank for financing consideration.

Nedbank Business Banking's Senior Manager: Enterprise Development, Nirmala Reddy notes that entrepreneurs in the Rustenburg area who successfully apply for the programme, will receive a significant advantage in their business journey.

"Nedbank offers a unique enterprise development solution, which assists enterprises that are black-owned with an annual turnover of up to R35 million. Some of the challenges we have found these businesses to be facing include lack of capital or collateral. At Nedbank Business Banking, we offer a holistic approach across access to finance, financial products and services and non-financial support, including mentorship and free business training through workshops and seminars. The Vuka Mentorship Programme™ is an exciting new development which allows us to mentor businesses in both urban and rural communities," says Reddy.

"New business owners require a certain level of mentorship and guidance, in order to help ease the many potential pitfalls of developing an enterprise. By applying for business mentorship training through Nedbank and Vuka, Rustenburg entrepreneurs will acquire the necessary support, direction, and financial muscle needed to make things happen in their new business," adds Reddy.

In order to participate in the programme, interested entrepreneurs can collect their application forms at the Old Town Hall Rustenburg, located on the corner of Beyers Naude and Fatima Bhayate or the Lesedi Business and IT Centre in Letlabong, on the 17th and 18th of October or the 1st and 2nd of November, between 9am and 3pm.
Existing, startups, aspiring business people and even those who have never owned businesses but want to start may apply. When submitting applications, entrepreneurs are requested to include certain documents, such as a two page CV, and a two page business plan.

Vuka brochures will also be handed out at the Bafokeng Plaza in Phokeng on the 19th and the 20th of October.

The first goal setting session for successful applicants will take place on November 23rd at the Old Town Hall in Rustenburg.

Successful candidates who complete both phases are able to apply for financing through Nedbank, in order to establish or further grow a credible enterprise in the Rustenburg area.

Sharon Reed, CEO Neosho119 concludes that the programme is ultimately helping to add value to the Rustenburg economy. "Through the mentorship and training that the programme provides, we are helping to develop thriving entrepreneurs who will then be in a position to create a host of exciting and dynamic new business ventures in Rustenburg. Ultimately, this will lead to the development of new industries in the area, and ensure that the local business market is diversified and increased."
