  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) September 13, 2018 - The 18th Annual Trigild Fall Lender Conference – the industry's longest running commercial real estate debt conference – is set for October 17 to19, 2018, at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego and will feature a compelling line up of keynote speakers, including futurist Peter Leyden of Reinvent; noted economist Sam Chandan, PhD; Ten-X’s Peter Muoio, Ph.D. and Clarion Partners’ Donald D. Sheets.

Each will bring unique experiences and commentary regarding trends having the biggest impact on the overall economy – as well as the lending and commercial real estate industries. Highlights include:

    • Leyden, founder and CEO of Reinvent and a leading expert on new technologies and future trends, will draw on his background as a journalist and entrepreneur to address “Our Age of Global Transformation,” distilling the essence of key technology developments and major trends that are restructuring the world and unfolding in the decades ahead.
    • The Larry & Klara Silverstein chair in real estate development and investment and associate dean for the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate, Chandan – known for his erudite commentary on monetary and fiscal policy issues as well as keen knowledge of capital and credit markets – will address “The State of Commercial Real Estate.”
    • Executive vice president at Ten-X, Muoio will discuss “Economic Cycle and Commercial Real Estate Cycle, Inexorably Connected or on Divergent Paths?” – examining the outlook for both the economic and commercial real estate cycles.
    • Sheets, managing director at Clarion Partners, will provide his annual “Contrarian Perspective on CRE Capital Markets.”

“We are very excited to have such an informed and insightful group this year at our conference as they collectively provide their latest views on commercial real estate, the capital markets, technology and the economy,” said conference founder and Trigild president Judy Hoffman. “Additionally, our panelists and other speakers will shed insight on a variety of hot button topics such as the retail industry, multifamily, hotels, loan serving, workouts and the latest trends in receivership law.”

The former executive editor for WIRED, Leyden’s landmark “Long Boom” WIRED article inspired a generation of entrepreneurs and company creators who rewrote the rules of business. Now he channels today’s tech-driven change into the realities of economic, political and demographic trends to help understand what’s next.

In addition his role at NYU, Chandan is partner, global head of strategy and a member of the investment committee at Capri Capital, a multinational investment management firm with $3.8 billion of assets under management in the United States and additional investment platforms in Sub-Saharan Africa and India. Additionally, he is founder of Chandan Economics, a provider of multifamily and commercial real estate mortgage data and risk analytics to banks and bank regulators.

Muoio is an executive vice president at Ten-X where he is chief economist and head of Ten-X research – heading all commercial and residential research and analytics for Auction.com and is senior principal of Ten-X Maximus, its third-party research provider.

Sheets, who serves as portfolio manager of Clarion Partners’ Special Situations Debt Group (SDDG), is member of Clarion’s debt investment committee and has nearly 20 years of leadership, property acquisition, asset management, capital formation and restructuring experience across a variety of capital structures, asset types and geographies.

As in past years, hundreds of participants will convene to listen to the above speakers as well as leading commercial real estate and finance industry leaders address topics related to the economy, finance, commercial real estate and the lending industries at the annual San Diego conference.

Aimed at lenders, special servicers, legal counsel, investors, real estate fund managers, and loan buyers, the conference will include highly valuable, up-to-the-minute information, as well as networking opportunities.
