  • Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) November 24, 2010 - Brodehl, formerly vice chair of Walnut Creek-based Morgan Miller Blair's Business and Technology Practice Group, focuses his trial and appellate practice on intellectual property, complex commercial, and real estate disputes. He has handled matters involving trade secret, unfair competition, trademark, patent, copyright, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and breach of fiduciary duty.

"Kevin's background and abilities make him an excellent fit with our Litigation Practice," said managing partner Daniel Rapaport. "In addition to his track record with business and real estate litigation, his experience handling intellectual property disputes will support our growing Intellectual Property Practice. This will be a nice complement to Eugene Pak's IP practice, another attorney who recently came on board, and will round out our ability to provide full legal and business services for our clients."

Brodehl brings extensive litigation experience, including several high profile and high stakes trials and appeals. He successfully served as lead trial attorney prosecuting a two-week jury trial to enforce a promissory note under the Uniform Commercial Code, obtaining a favorable judgment and "prevailing party" attorney fees in excess of $2.5 million. Brodehl has served as lead counsel in several trade secret actions, often involving motions for emergency injunctive relief aimed at avoiding potentially irreparable harm to his clients or allowing his clients to rightfully compete in the marketplace. He also has represented clients as parties and amicus curiae on significant appellate matters, including two precedent-setting victories involving the Subdivision Map Act and the Land Conservation Act, and an amicus curiae brief on behalf of wi-fi manufacturers in a high profile, Federal Circuit appeal with global implications. .

Brodehl is a frequent writer on intellectual property case law developments and a frequent speaker for the Contra Costa County Bar Association, where he previously served as the Appellate Section president. He has also taught Appellate Advocacy as an adjunct professor at the John F. Kennedy School of Law. Brodehl earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, School of Law (1998) and his B.A. in psychology and law & society from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1995).
