  • Ventura, CA (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - In celebration of all pets this holiday season, Shelter Hope Pet Shop will host their first "Howliday Pet Parade" Saturday, December 17, 2012 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm.

The parade will start at Shelter Hope Pet Shop, located at Janss MarketPlace , 275 N. Moorpark Road in Thousand Oaks California. Registration begins at 11:30am. The public is invited to bring well behaved, licensed pets to participate in the parade. The conclusion of the parade will feature a prize for the best dressed pet.

Grand Marshall for the event is a King Charles Cavalier named Sophia Loren, owned by Wendy Burch, an Emmy award-winning reporter for the KTLA Morning News Team. With nearly two decades of reporting experience, Wendy has delivered thousands of live television news reports, from breaking news to high-profile court cases to star-studded red carpet events. This will be Sophy's first public appearance, aside from her airtime on the KTLA Morning News.
Supervisor Linda Parks will welcome the public and Thousand Oaks Mayor, Jacqui Irwin, will kick off the parade, which begins in front of the Shelter Hope Pet Shop.
Shelter Hope Pet Shop, a new pet store that carries shelter animals available for on-the-spot adoption, showcases approximately 25 small dogs and 10 rabbits each weekend. The store is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm and the adoption prices are the same as adopting directly from the shelter. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, shots, a certificate for a free vet exam (at participating vet clinics), and obedience classes. The available bunnies are litter box trained, and come spayed or neutered. Visitors can also find gift items for animal lovers, with all donations from the store going directly to help these shelter animals find new homes.

"Janss Marketplace is thrilled to support the Shelter Hope Pet Shelter in efforts to bring attention to the many great, adoptable animals crowding our neighboring shelters and best of all find them wonderful homes. The pet parade offers the entire community the opportunity to celebrate our furry family members by participating in the pet parade, stopping by Santa's Cottage for a picture with Santa or stop by Shelter Hope Pet Shop today and adopt a new pet for the howlidays"-states Heather Danko-NewMark Merrill.
