  • (1888PressRelease) December 15, 2011 - Montreal, Canada - Matrox Graphics announced today that long-time partner and medical-solutions provider Digital Medical Systems Ltd. (DMS) has supplied Clalit Health Services facilities and the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel with Carestream Health Vue Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) leveraging Matrox TheatreVUE display projection controller boards. DMS selected the TheatreVUE boards to replicate connected diagnostic displays onto plasma televisions in operating rooms and medical training and presentation environments.

"We served a major role in the implementation of the PACS solutions in the Clalit and Sheba medical centers," said Shai Varsano, Digital Capture Product Manager, DMS. "We provided all the hardware, including the Matrox TheatreVUE display boards to effortlessly project replicated images onto the plasma televisions for a more collaborative environment for radiologists and medical professionals in general to review and interpret diagnostic images."

The PACS workstations are versatile in that they are meant for day-to-day work, training sessions, as well as consultations. Clalit, the second-largest HMO in the world, has its six installations characterized by two 2MP diagnostic monitors and a radiology information system (RIS) display, while two TheatreVue boards each connect to 50" plasma screens serving as feature displays. The Chaim Sheba Medical Center, the largest hospital in the country, meanwhile has each of its six installations comparatively made up of two 3MP diagnostic monitors, a RIS monitor, and a TheatreVue board connected to a single 48" plasma feature display.

In addition, the installed Matrox TheatreVUE display projection controller boards also enable pristine image quality at high-bit depths, flicker-free output, and high-performance window leveling and image loading. TheatreVUE boards can also magnify selected portions of the diagnostic monitors onto the feature display(s). While this Desktop Zoom functionality was introduced with TheatreVUE boards back in 2003, it is also available in Matrox XeniaTM Series next-generation display controller boards, which offer advanced board and software capabilities, such as a third display output, plus higher resolution support (up to 4MP+8MP+8MP).

"A growing number of healthcare facilities are configuring diagnostic workstations with Matrox display controller boards for medical imaging applications to enhance patient outcomes," said George Rigas, Business Development Manager, Matrox Graphics Inc. "Having our products benefit healthcare professionals and patients in association with Carestream solutions is a testament to Matrox's trademark level of high performance."
